Install and Grow Scheme

We feel it is important to give back to the environment, and when we can we support our local community.

We’ve teamed up with the Prospects Trust, a local social enterprise, to create our Install and Grow scheme.

What do we mean by Install and Grow?

For every bespoke wood floor we install, we plant a tree that will grow for many years. This is our way to give back to the environment, and we feel it is important that we continue to do so.

Since June 2017, we’ve planted 212 trees at Snakehall Farm in Reach, the home of the Prospect Trust.

Although most of the floors we sell are made from oak, the trees we have planted are a mixture of species such as blackthorn, crab apple, hawthorn and rowan to match their natural surroundings and meet the farm’s requirements.

Why Plant Trees?

As a company which sells wooden floors, we’re using the planet’s natural resources to create them. Yes, we ensure that all of our products come from sustainable sources and we only use wood flooring suppliers who are accredited by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), the EUTR (EU Timber Regulation) or the PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification), but this doesn’t mean that we can’t do our own little piece of work to make sure we’re giving back to the environment in another way.

By teaming up with the Prospects Trust we can plant many trees that will grow for years to come and bring joy to the people who use the farm, thus giving back to the environment and the local community.

Who are the Prospects Trust?

The Prospects Trust are an amazing local charity which provides therapeutic horticulture to people who have learning and physical disabilities. The Prospects Trust provide supported day placements, training and work experience opportunities on their 18-acre organic farm. The enterprise is open Monday to Friday for 50 weeks of the year, and the farm’s gates are open to anyone with the ambition to work hard and learn lots.

We believe that it’s important to support local charities in any way possible. By donating and planting trees at their farm we’ll help them develop an area for forestry activities.
