Our Community and the Environment

We recognise that it is important to make commitments to sustainability and to improving the quality of the environment for our staff, customers, the local community and the planet.

This page explains the procedures we follow and the systems we have created to maintain the environment and support our local community.

Recycling & Waste Management

We’re aware that our activities produce waste materials that have an impact on the environment. We’ve committed to managing and continually improving our environmental performance, and have created systems to improve our waste management and to recycle wherever possible.

We’re members of Carpet Recycling UK, a not-for-profit membership association working to increase the recycling of carpet waste across the UK. We also work with Recofloor, who collect post-installation vinyl flooring and recycles it into new flooring.

Our waste is handled by the Award Winning Ellgia, who are working towards ‘Zero waste to landfill’, by moving refuse up the waste hierarchy with investment across their sites to increase waste processing and waste fuel production in the form of Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) and Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF). This fuel is then used to provide heat and electricity from energy recovery plants. Ellgia supplies SRF fuel to Latvia and Cyprus and RDF to Sweden and the UK, powering our homes and businesses.

Sustainable Sourcing

To this day, illegal logging continues throughout the world, contributing to the deforestation of some of our most treasured forests and woodlands.

To ensure that our products come from sustainable sources, we only use wood flooring suppliers who are accredited by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), the EUTR (EU Timber Regulation) or the PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification).

Charity

We feel that it’s important to give back to the environment, and when we can, we support our local community.

We’ve teamed up with the Prospects Trust, a local social enterprise, to create our Install and Grow Scheme.
