This project required us to install a new Luxury Vinyl Tile floor over existing Ceramic Tiles in a Kitchen.
The first step in achieving a quality install is to check the tiles to see if they are firmly fixed and not damaged in any way. If the tiles were damaged or loose we could not achieve a quality installation and therefore not proceed with this method of installation. Knowing the tiles were safe to work with, we proceeded with the installation by decreasing the tiles and removing any possible contaminants.
The following step required us to prime the tiles and fill the grout lines between them. We have been trained by Uzin, a leading manufacturer in floor preparation products and know which products to use in these situations. Uzin has a gap-filling primer that will prime the tiles and fill the grout lines at the same time, leaving the perfect surface for the next stage of installation.
Once the gap-filling primer had dried we were able to apply a smoothing compound. The smoothing compound provided a nice smooth service for us to install the new floor covering and ensured we got a good finish.
We are now ready to lay the new Luxury Vinyl Tile flooring covering onto the prepared surface. Pressure Sensitive adhesive is applied along with the new LVT. In this case, we are using the Karndean Knight Tile Black Raven Slate with a Feature Strip.
