We were invited to Gill's home in Cambridge to transform the flooring in several rooms. After years of enjoying her city-centre home, she had decided it was time for a refresh.
This case study showcases the two-phase project we completed to enhance her living room and bedroom with carpet and her kitchen with wood flooring.
In October 2024, Gill visited our showroom with a plan to update her living room, bedroom, and kitchen.
The project was divided into two phases: new carpeting for the living areas and bedroom, followed by flooring for the kitchen after its renovation in the new year.
We began by discussing various carpet options. After exploring different choices, Gill opted for Cormar’s Fairisle loop carpet, a durable and stylish option. She selected two distinct shades for each room: Amaretto for the living room and Oatflake for the bedroom.
Our skilled fitter, Karl, completed the installation in December. The new carpet added a fresh and inviting feel to her home, just in time for Christmas.

When the time came to choose the flooring for the kitchen, we explored various materials, weighing the pros and cons of wood versus luxury vinyl tiles (LVT). Gill’s preference was clear—she wanted the timeless, natural beauty of a wood floor.
After careful consideration, she selected a stunning French Oak engineered wood floor from Panaget, laid in a beautiful herringbone pattern with a durable satin lacquer finish, perfect for withstanding the demands of a busy kitchen.
Before we lay any floor we always do a thorough survey to ensure that the floor will be fitted on a sturdy subfloor. This is to ensure it has the best chance for long-lasting performance.
During this project, we identified that the existing subfloor joists were insufficiently supported, leading to excessive movement.
To address this, we collaborated with Goddards, a supplier of beautiful kitchens in Saffron Walden, to reinforce and replace the subfloor. This ensured a stable foundation for the new flooring and kitchen.
We do preparatory work such as this so that we know that our installations will not fail by warping or lifting over time, and this is why we’re able to offer a three-year warranty on all our installations.
The final result was stunning thanks to our fitter Paul who takes great pride in his work. Gill also opted for a fitted doormat sunk into the floor to help reduce dirt from entering her home and to make it easier to remove dirty footwear.
Gill’s kitchen renovation is going to be completed soon, and we can’t wait to see the transformation once everything is finished.

This project perfectly showcases our commitment to quality, our attention to detail, and the personalised service we provide for each client. We're proud to have been part of Gill’s home renovation and look forward to seeing her newly updated kitchen!
