We carried out an installation in a Cambridge home where our client, Helen, wanted a durable and stylish carpet for her library. She selected the New England carpet from Unnatural Flooring in the shade, Woodstock.
Unnatural Flooring carpets are synthetic carpets but they look like natural fibres and bring a touch of the outdoors in.
Unnatural Flooring carpets are synthetic carpets that are designed to replicate the natural texture of sisal, but with added practicality.
Sisal is a fibre from the agave plant and is valued for its textured, woven appearance. It can, however, stain easily and can be sensitive to moisture.
In contrast, Unnatural Flooring carpets offer the same stylish look while being stain-resistant, water-resistant and easier to maintain.
Fully synthetic carpets such as those made by Unnatural Flooring offer excellent durability and ease of maintenance, making them a practical yet stylish choice. However, their installation requires a specialised approach—unlike traditional stretch methods, a double-stick technique ensures optimal performance and longevity.

Installing correctly is so important as it means you give your carpet the best chance of a longlife. It really isn't worth cutting corners using old underlay or fitting new carpet on top of rickety or wonky floors. It's essential to do the prep work.
Unlike traditional stretch-fit carpet installations, synthetic carpets require a double-stick method to ensure stability and longevity. The process here involved several steps:
We love the end result of this project. This Unnatural Flooring carpet offers a practical yet elegant flooring solution for the library, complementing the space while also offering durability and ease of upkeep.
This project also highlights the importance of selecting the right installation method for each material which epitomises our commitment to craftsmanship.
We can't wait to see the room when it's filled with books!
