Great for homes with children and pets

Wood floors can be easily cleaned so spills and mud from little feet and lively pets can easily be cleared up.

Due to being natural they hold the warmth in them in colder months and can be dressed up and accessorised with rugs to enhance the warmth further. You can also change the rugs on them for seasonal variation.

The cons

Scratch and dent

Floors can be protected but they are not entirely immune to scratching and denting. Good maintenance however will help avoid too much damage.

They can be noisy

Soft furnishings and good quality underlay can help alleviate this issue.

Cost

They come at different price points, but your budget will affect your options in terms of wood type and layout.

Environmental concerns

Wood comes from trees which can be a concern for the environment so look for companies that you know are working towards sustainability and that use reclaimed wood or that source responsibly and are certified as planting trees to replace the trees cut down.
