As the name suggests, wool mix means your carpet is made with a mixture of materials. The most common wool mix is wool and nylon (a synthetic man-made carpet). A typical ratio is 80 per cent wool to 20 per cent nylon. An 80:20 wool mix. This combines all the benefits of wool with the durability of nylon.
Wool has so many wonderful properties, from being a natural, recyclable product, to naturally self-cleaning with natural bounce back, to being hard-wearing and long-lasting. While you don’t want to lose these properties in your carpet, sometimes you do want some additional benefits, hence the reason wool is often combined with a synthetic carpet too, which comes with its own set of benefits.
Synthetic manmade carpets have stain-resistant properties, so when mixed with wool, it makes that wool slightly easier to clean stains from.
Synthetic carpets are known for their soft texture underfoot, while wool is slightly coarser, so by combining synthetic fibres with wool you get additional underfoot comfort which is a huge plus point in a carpet.

While you might want a wool carpet, which typically has a higher price point, adding an element of synthetic to your carpet will reduce the price of your carpet.
By combining the hardwearing, long-lasting wool carpet, which is also known for bouncing back to shape and naturally self-cleaning, with the lower price point, the softness, and the stain resistance features of a synthetic, you get the best of both worlds in terms of looks and qualities. It is a perfect solution for anyone in doubt as to what carpets to choose to make their house a home.
